Dupont Circle Citizens Comprehensive Plan Debate Friday

Comprehensive Plan Debate
Search for Solutions

The Dupont Circle Citizens Association (DCCA) will host a debate on the District’s Comprehensive Plan Friday April 13.

Speakers, all of whom have been involved in discussions on the Comprehensive Plan, include David Alpert, founder of Greater Greater Washington and a Dupont resident; Meg Maguire, Committee of 100 on the Federal City with whom DCCA worked in opposing Digital Billboards; Parisa Norouzi of Empower DC and the Grassroots Planning Coalition and others.

–What: (Ward 2) Comprehensive Plan: Search for Solutions
–When: 7-9 PM, Friday April 13, 2018
–Where: DC Jewish Community Center, 1529 16th St, NW (Q Street entrance)

The event is a continuation of the discussion at the local-Ward 2 level on changes to the Comprehensive Plan proposed by Mayor Bowser and that attracted hundreds of witnesses to a recent marathon hearing in the DC Council.

“The DC Office of Planning has spent more than half a million dollars so far on community outreach to produce a polarizing document–and it’s only the first chapter of the Plan,” said DCCA President Robin Diener. In response, many groups around the city are hosting debates and conversations about the Comp Plan. “In Dupont, we are calling ours a search for solutions. Everyone agrees on the dire need for affordable housing, environmental justice, racial and economic equity, among other goals. We differ over how to achieve them. We hope to find some common ground and advise the government about how to move forward.”

The event is free and open to the public. RSVP here.
